LIGHTFORGE
Forge your light, master every universe.
The most complete DMX recorder you can run in Q-SYS, and probably on the market. 64 tracks of up to 32 universes, cue lists, merge, patch and timecode chase, running on the Core with the rest of your system and fully scriptable. Nothing extra to rack, power or maintain.

Présentation
LightForge is a full DMX show recorder that lives inside Q-SYS, and it stands up to dedicated hardware recorders. It records Art-Net and sACN, stores the takes on the Core and plays them back as cue lists with merge, patch and timecode chase. No PC, no recorder in the rack: for physical DMX, add any Art-Net or sACN node. Running on the Core means running on the platform you already rely on for audio, video and control. Same hardware, same uptime, one design file, one place to deploy and maintain the whole show. A track captures a set of universes (1 to 32), frame-aligned, at 44 fps by default (20 to 60 fps). Only frames whose content changes are written, so a held look costs almost nothing on disk. Channel masks can be set per universe. Recording starts by hand, on any DMX change, on a channel level, or inside a timecode window. Each track plays a cue list of up to 64 cues: GO per cue, Next / Prev, and Cut, Wait or Crossfade transitions (0 to 60 s). Loop, fader and stop behaviour (hold last frame or release) are set per track. The master transport starts every track on the same clock instant. Tracks sharing an output universe are merged HTP, LTP or by sACN priority. A take can be sent to other universes than the ones it was recorded on, with a start universe per track or the 64-row patch, and in either protocol. Timecode comes from Art-Net TC or any Q-SYS component exposing H/M/S/F, chosen per track, with separate sources for recording and playback. Each take stores the TC it was recorded at and chases back from there, with an optional offset. Frame rate is detected or forced (24, 25, 29.97 DF, 30). Everything is scriptable. Every control is a pin: drive LightForge from a UCI, a Lua control script, a show controller, GPIO, or a third-party control system over Q-SYS external control. Cue buttons report their state, so a touch panel shows what is loaded, playing or armed without extra code. It is built to run unattended: script errors are contained, stalled timers restart, overload lowers the frame rate instead of tripping the Q-SYS execution limit, and network output recovers on its own. Faults are reported in Status and on the System page.
Fonctionnalités
- Record — Up to 64 tracks, each capturing 1 to 32 universes frame-aligned. Only changed frames are written. Channel masks per universe.
- Cues — Up to 64 cues per track. GO per cue, Next / Prev, Cut, Wait or Crossfade up to 60 s, loop per cue.
- Route — Art-Net or sACN in and out, set per track. Broadcast, unicast or sACN multicast. Move a take to other universes with the track's start universe or the 64-row patch.
- Merge — HTP, LTP or sACN priority per output universe. Fader per track, master fader and master out on top.
- Timecode — Art-Net TC or any Q-SYS component, per track. Takes chase from the TC they were recorded at, with an optional offset. 24, 25, 29.97 DF, 30 fps or auto.
- Trigger — Start a recording by hand, on any DMX change, on a channel level, or inside a timecode window.
- Monitor — 512 channels of any track and universe, input side or output side.
- Unattended — Contained script errors, timer watchdog, automatic socket recovery, graceful degradation under load. Faults listed in Status and on the System page.
- Control — Every control is a pin: UCI, scripting, Show Controller, ShowMind. Settings, cues and patch back up to one JSON file.

Historique des versions
- Major update: multi-universe tracks, cue lists, universe patch and a new touch-first interface. Designs and config backups from v1 upgrade automatically; v1 recordings stay readable.
- New page layout organised by job: Show · Playlist · Record · Play Setup · Patch · Monitor · System. The Show page is play-only, with one tile per track, a loop button and a fader per track.
- Multi-universe tracks: each track records and replays a set of universes (up to 32), frame-aligned. Pick universes by tapping a grid, no syntax to learn.
- Cue lists per track (up to 64 cues) on the Playlist page: GO per cue, Next / Prev, Cut, Wait or Crossfade transitions (0–60 s), per-cue loop and AutoPlay.
- Universe patch (64 IN → OUT mappings) and per-track output universe: replay a take on different universes than the ones it was recorded on.
- Channel ranges can now differ per universe, for recording and for output (e.g. 1-48 everywhere, universe 5 = 1-24).
- Timecode: TC SYNC now plays a take from the timecode it was recorded at (TC-synced tracks no longer stop immediately), with a per-track TC offset, source and frame rate (24 / 25 / 29.97 DF / 30). Recording and playback can use different timecode sources.
- Frame-locked master transport (REC ALL / PLAY ALL / PAUSE / STOP ALL) and a per-track Stop behaviour: hold last frame or release (blackout).
- Configurable frame rate (20–60 fps) for pixel controllers.
- Reliability: script errors are contained, stalled timers restart automatically, heavy rigs degrade frame rate instead of stopping, network sends recover on their own, and takes cut by a power loss stay playable up to the last complete frame.
- Art-Net and sACN outputs are kept alive on static looks; sACN streams are terminated cleanly when an output stops.
- Takes are named after their track (e.g. T03-Front-wash_002.dmxr) and can be renamed from the System page: tracks and cues using the file follow automatically.
- System page redesigned in five cards: License, Network, Storage & Files, Backup, Diagnostics.
- Fixes: storage path no longer reset at boot on licensed Cores; REC on a playing track no longer fails; dropdown lists and alternate table rows are readable again.
- User manual rewritten page by page.
- Bug Fix: Art-Net universe 0 conflict with third-party controllers (e.g. GrandMA3)
- Up to 64-track Art-Net & sACN record/play
- Merge engine with HTP, LTP, and Priority modes
- Art-Net TimeCode and external TC component support
- 4 trigger modes: Manual, Any Change, DMX Level, Timecode
- 512-channel live monitor (input and output modes)
- Per-track input and output channel mask filtering
- JSON config backup and restore
